I also have an travelmate 5315 that shuts down suddenly every now and then. The fan seems to work fine. Infact it is spinning continuous. The notebook starts to react slow and just powers off. I opened the laptop and replaced the thermal compound but it didn't fix the problem. Under system profiler, the TZ01 sensor reads 99 degrees celcius, but the status can only updated after reboot. After the reboot, the notebook functions fine for a while.
