Hi

I am closing this as invalid[1]. In general, programs should work
without requiring a particular environment variable is set. Secondly it
is impossible for update-java-alternatives to update the variable of any
running terminal or X11 session. Also, as I recall, messing with
/etc/environment is generally not acceptable (but I could be wrong
here).
