Hi I do not see how you come to the conclusion that the script is new. It has existed since the 15th of Sep 2009[1] (before that it was known as eclipse.sh) and we have had plenty of uploads since then to Ubuntu Karmic. That being said, no - you do not see any changes that install it because they were already in place.
