The majority decision here is actually the proper one to take. At some point in time, for all software, a decision has to be made when to deem a package no longer supported it favor of its successor. I realize this causes problems for some, however the individual packages that depend upon said package in question should be re-compiled and re-released. Two options to solve this are; 1) download source and and compile yourself using libstdc++6. 2) File a bug with the developer of said packages that still depend upon libstdc++5.
