Since you installed this system using Ubuntu 9.10 media, which installs
grub2 by default, it appears you have removed the recommended bootloader
and replaced it with grub1.  You should correct this by running 'sudo
apt-get install grub-pc' from a terminal, to reinstall the recommended
grub2 bootloader.
