1. I think Firefox is the only application where I have seen this problem. However, I always run Firefox maximized, so I'm not sure if I would have noticed the problem somewhere else on the desktop. 2. The next time this occurs I will capture a screenshot and possibly a digital picture if the screenshot does not show the problem. When I say the screen is garbled, I see horizontal lines on portions of the screen (almost like a sync problem), and some messed up characters (almost like a video memory problem). However, I multi-boot this system with Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows XP and have not seen the problem in the other 2 systems. I must say, however, that I mostly am running Ubuntu 10.04. 3. There does not appear to be any pattern to when this occurs. It appears to happen randomly while browsing. A page refresh may clear up portions of the display but not completely completely correct the display. The desktop looks normal after exiting Firefox.
Update: I was able to capture an occurrence and have attached a screen save. Highly intermittent. I finally was able to recreate by opening all links in one of my bookmark folders and then looking through the tabs until I saw a corrupted display.
