Hello Jeremy, I tested today the kubuntu desktop ISO TESTING : daily-live/20100427 /lucid-desktop-amd64.iso and i can shutdown without any problems. Look like only the Kubuntu DvD build as this bug.
I will try with mainline build kernel, soon as i can.
