Hi,  I test with my EliteBook 6930P on 10.04, and wireless ether is
works fine.

Could you please re-test with 10.04?
And if this problem still there, please tell us your 6930P 
hardware-configuration.

My 6930p is: 
 - Hardware P/N: FL490AW#ACF
 - It works with iwlagn with: (from lspci)
  | 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5300
