Thanks. Since the memory gets freed once firefox is exited, perhaps you have a general performance issue rather than just a memory leak. There are some known performance issues in -ati with KMS enabled. If you haven't tried it already, you could test if booting the kernel with the option radeon.modeset=0 makes it perform well with no degredation. -- The system is very slow.
