I fixed my Java and it works fine in 10.04. It appears there are some check boxes in the original install phase that need to be checked. If you don't check them you can still hit next for some reason and it will attempt to install but spit back an error.
Open package manager and search java. completely remove all green boxes. Once you've done that.... go back and select install java6 by sun. There is an additional package that will not be automatically selected as a dependency called "sun-java6-plugin" I selected that as well. This package is the plugin to get Java to work properly in Firefux. Hit apply. It then installed without popping up any boxes asking you to agree to sell your soul or whatever is in those TOS things that no one ever reads. After you're done you can go here to test. http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~matuszek/General/JavaVersionTests/JavaTests.html You should see a bunch of boxes with 4 colors in it. If not.. Java did not install correctly. -- declining the license during installation causes an error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303609 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
