Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 (clean install) and this bug still
there.

Mouse works fine, but stops later at random time.

I tried to plug another USB mouse after the failure and it starts working right
away on X.
Few minutes later, the second USB mouse is dead too. Plugging and unplugging
previously connected mice did not solve the problem (even on different ports).
I need a new mouse plugged in to have it working. It looks this problem causes
a registered device to stop working, but USB/X subsystems continue to work fine.

This bug seems to be closely related to CPU scaling/energy saving
issues. I saw it happens more often when I can hear an increase on my
CPU fan speed. It looks like I got this bug when I have cpu scaling +
mouse movement at the same time.

I'm waiting a new PCI-USB card to test with it. I will report as soon as I
receive it.
My kids want to know why linux freezes when XP runs fine (I have both installed
on the same machine) :-(
