Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt
f...@bar:/etc/apt$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 f...@bar:/etc/apt$ apt-cache policy apt apt: Installed: 0.7.23.1ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.7.23.1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.7.23.1ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status When performed a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade", the system started to work as expected, then a dialog box asked to restart the system. Apparently something failed during such reboot as I've ended in a root prompt (#). >From there I've rebooted the machine, selected the new kernel at grub and everything seemed to be ok but when I'm finally at gnome I've realised no distro upgrade was performed at all, meaning everything looked just like before the upgrade attempt. f...@bar:/etc/apt$ cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 9.10 \n \l Now if I try to run the distro upgrade again: f...@bar:/etc/apt$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... Done 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Nothing happens.
