I just tried with the last daily.
The kernel is 2.6.20-12-generic.
With "init=/bin/bash" then "echo -n mem > /sys/power/state" the system now
hangs with everything ON and the cursor blinking. There is no output.

After booting the gnome live system there is no suspend/hibernate options in
the shutdown menu. So I tried to edit /usr/sbin/laptop-detect writing "exit 0"
at line 2, then from a terminal "sudo pmi action suspend". Hard disk and Screen
went off, but the sleep light does not pulse, pressing keys (even power button)
do not change anything.
Cpu runs 'cause the system does not get cold.

I can't install ubuntu again right now, but I can try again with the
live cd if you ask me.
