Public bug reported:

I installed ubuntu Lucid Lynx on my computer and couldn't boot anymore with the
grub-pc

when I boot, I directly have
CDROM Boot Priority .. No Medium
   error : file not found.
   grub rescue >
when I list the different devices, I found the linux one using the ls command.
Unfortunatelly, when I list the /boot directory, I find the bin data!
please see the attached image

My config is :
3 SATA hard drive
2 IDE hard drive

When I boot from live CD to repair, I can mount easily my Linux
partition which is /dev/sde1 and I can see the usual /boot/grub
directory with all modules...

Unfortunatly, when I boot, I go directly on the grub rescue with the error file
not found.
As I feel disappointed as I'm working on this problem since yesterday, te only
way to use again my computer seems to fallback to the grub legacy version...

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
