Seems that libusb-0.1 is unsupported for a very long time now. Here is
the answer from libusb developers:


It seems that you are using libusb-0.1 which is not maintained since a long 
time and is not really supported.

Please uninstall libusb-0.1 and instead install libusb-1.0 (version
1.0.8 released yesterday) and also install libusb-compat-0.1 (version
1.0.3) which provides backwards compatibility for programs that were
linked against libusb-0.1.

So if it is not supported anymore why does Ubuntu use it?
