Just had a kernel update, but the problem persists even in the newer kernel.
** Description changed: I have a triple head setup spread out over two nvidia fx5200 video cards. I am using the 173 drivers. At boot, the screens come up, but within a few seconds of the desktop coming up fully I get a full system freeze and have to manually reboot. If I go back to using the previous kernel from 9.10 (2.6.31-21) everything works again, but this comes at the cost of other things acting a little screwy as those other things are supposed to be working with the newer kernel. I wish I had more info about this problem so that a solution could be found. I don't know that this bug will draw much interest anyway as there seems to be only a minority group of desktop users that use a multi-head setup, but to anyone who might help, thanks. I really love my triple head setup. Not having it won't make me switch to using an alternate OS, but having it greatly increases my productivity and pleasure in using my computer. I've attached a copy of my xorg.conf + + *edit + I even tried removing my current xorg.conf then rebooting and using nvidia-settings to reconfigure a brand-spanking new xorg.conf, but the problem persisted. ** Tags added: 10.04 173 card driver drivers fx5200 geforce head kernel lucid lynx monitor monitors multi multi-head multihead multiple nvidia revert screen screens tri tri-head trihead triple triple-head ubuntu video xorg xorg.conf xserver ** Tags added: broken freeze frozen reboot restart -- Triple head setup broken upon upgrade to 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575358 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
