Another path (as opposed to filename) length constraint surely arises
when archiving.

I was planning to back up '/home/$USER/.Private' directly to DDS tape.

But 'afio' is currently path limited to 1023 chars and 'star' to 4095
chars. Older versions and other utilities usually fare worse.

There is some merit in using unencrypted filenames for archival
purposes. Indeed I could live with that work around, but other user may
not want too.
