Zach: I have the same problem and followed your instructions with no success. Couchdb is definitely uploading as two of my firefox's are running as a non-default profile in compiz which show's up as an entry in futon view. However, neither my PC nor my netbook are syncing in anyway. Unfortunately I am not experienced enough with couchdb to interpret things further than that, but let me know if I can help in anyway.
This may or may not be of consequence, but I'm running 2 seperate X screens on my pc which require firefox to be run under seperate compiz profiles. The bookmarks folders are subsequently seperate as well.
