Hi lavinog Thanks for the proposed fix. It does appear to work, but I'm worried about unintended consequences. I can't install OSs with such bugs and hacked workarounds in them.
It's a shame because Lucid seems like an otherwise fine release but for the time being I'm going to have to stick to Karmic.
