Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

At least once a day, gedit freezes while I'm working. Whenever it
happens, you can't do anything at all, not even close the window. You
have to go to System Monitor to close it. Obviously, there's no way to
save what you're doing, and you sometimes lose a great deal of work. It
has been doing this for some time, and I think it did it in the previous
version of Ubuntu as well (though I can't be sure).

Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala
gedit 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 with plugins 2.28.0-0ubuntu1

i was working as usual. What I do is paste in a file, edit it manually,
use search and replace AND regex search and replace to make further
changes, then cut from it, pasting it to another place, one
paragraph/line at a time. I was about 20% through the cut/paste process
when it failed this time. But it happens all the time, and is beginning
to drive me nuts. If gedit didn't have such good addons, I would most
likely find another option.
