qutim wasn't in karmic - it was removed, and then reintroduced in lucid. However, GnuTLS is enabled in upstream PPA builds, and upstream is now blaming me for broken Jabber support in lucid and asking me to do something about it. This new functionality won't affect existing connections, only those users who are configuring new accounts.
