@gh1234, Thanks, I did it already several times but it does only one thing : - without this blacklisting of fb16 the screen is flickering ; - after blacklisting and sudo update-initramfs -u it becomes steady but totally garbled and still unreadable. I read with interest the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/539582 link and this bug looks like an old and unfriendly one, I can only hope it will be corrected some day.
