Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox
Shortly after upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04, Ubuntuzilla notified me that I should upgrade Firefox from 3.6.0 to 3.6.3 following the instructions at the Ubuntuzilla Website. Since I also had problems with Thunderbird after the Ubuntu upgrade, I also arranged to upgrade Thunderbird to 3.0.4 (which apparently succeeded). Note that the system saved a crash report, but when I followed through, the report was trashed since Firefox is not an official Ubuntu package. Given the way that Linux developers OUGHT to be working together, I am surprised that the crash report was trashed -- instead of being carefully saved so that it could be turned over to the Mozilla developers. Indeed, it could even possible that after 'finger pointing' exercises have finished, it could even turn out to be a joint problem. I am also a bit upset about the strictness of Cannonical policies about application upgrades between operating system upgrades, as it interferes with the ability of the user to keep his/her system up to date, driving users to extremes such as employed by the Ubuntuzilla team.
