Hello I have a Thinkpad Laptop with a built in camera, running Kubuntu 9.04 I am having the same problem as described. I am using a brother printer/scanner which worked fine with 8.04. The scanner is recognised lsusb gives me Bus 003 Device 003: ID 04f9:0182 Brother Industries, Ltd Composite Device Now commenting out To prevent this error, you can comment out the “/dev/video0″ line in /etc/sane.d/v4l.conf. and restarting xsane did not solve the problem. Now no device is available.
I once had running sudo apt-get update which updated a lot of packages but then after the update I could not use skype anymore, since I could not select the soundcard.
