I can confirm this on Ubuntu 10.04 x86. Steps to reproduce: 1. Login 2. Open Update Manager (System -> Administration -> Update Manager) 3. Update Manager shows a list of packages that can be updated.
Actual behaviour: In step 1, no application notification icon appears in the top panel, whether there are available updates or not. Expected behaviour: In step 1, an application notification icon should appear in the top panel when updates are available.
