Same problem here, lucid 64 bit, Empathy 2.30.1 MSN: connection error. Gtalk works good (just some problem with sound, but it's not important). I removed telepathy-butterfly and the dependencies, and installed the telepathy-haze. After that i close and restart empathy, made a new msn connection but it didn't solve the problem. Then i killed the running telepathy-empathy process, and now i made a new msn connection. I saw three new line (!) at the options: Http Method (unchecked checkbox by default), Http Method Server (default: gateway.messenger.hotmail.com), Custom Smileys (checked checkbox by default). Port and server like with telepathy-butterfly.
