Alteeno, so you are saying "sudo /etc/init.d/dmraid start" does not
work, and "dmraid -ay" works? Then run "sudo sh -x /etc/init.d/dmraid
start 2>output.txt" and attach output.txt, please.

That the reconfiguration of acpid fails is not related to dmraid AFAICS.
