Public bug reported:

I found a problem in Ubuntu 10.04 (x86) when i try to define more than 9
virtual network interfaces in /etc/network/interfaces (eth0:0 - eth 0:8). If i
define more and restart the network config via /etc/init.d/networking restart,
i always get an error like "too much parameters in /etc/network/interfaces". If
i then manually bring the interfaces up using ifconfig everything works.
The network card i used is VMXNET3 (paravirtualised, the host i have this
problem is a VMWare image).
