ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

I can confirm this as well.

Story:

My brother-in-law had Ubuntu 9.10 - fresh installed by me; dual boot
with Windows XP. I web updated Ubuntu part of it to 10.04 Lucid. I
installed 3 or 4 additional wallpaper packages from the repositories -
one of them was "ubuntu-wallpapers-extra". Lucid's original login
window's theme changed to a flower image. There were reports that
changing GDM is very hard after Ubuntu 9.10 -if it is not impossible. So
I didn't try much to alter it. I also didn't try to uninstall those
wallpaper packages one by one to check for the defective one. By eye
control I decided that the image is WhiteOrchid.jpg being among the
wallpapers. I removed WhiteOrchid.jpg from the wallpapers directory
(most probably it was /usr/share/backgrounds) and the background of the
login window became plain white (no theme, I mean). I copied
WhiteOrchid.jpg to that directory again. It reappeared as the login
window theme. I told my brother-in-law that he should use that for some
time, for some reason which is hard to tell.

I'm still on 9.10 Karmic but if developers ask for gathering info from
my brother-in-law's machine which we experienced the issue; I will be
happy do that.
