This also happened to me in the "Opacity, Brightness and Saturation
adjustments" plugin, where it is even more annoying:

* Open the "Opacity, Brightness and Saturation adjustments" plugin, this puts
you on the opacity tab
* Go to "Window specific settings" and press "New"
* _First_ adjust the "Window values" slider to something other than 0, or this
will get nasty
* Press the "+" Button next to the "Windows" field
* Put anything in the "Type" dropdown and "Value" Field
* Press "Add"
* The edit window only gets the "Type" selection, not the content of the
"Value" field, e.g. only "class=" instead of "class=Ccsm"
* This often matches every window: "class=" matched every single window on my
screen, including the GNOME panels.
* The new settings are applied immediately. This means that if you haven't
adjusted the "Window values" slider before, now every window has an opacity of
0%, so every window disappears and you're left with an empty desktop, wondering
what just happened.

Apart from fixing this bug, I think it might also be a good idea to have
the "Window values" slider default to something other than zero, at
least for opacity, so people won't have windows suddenly disappear on
them.
