Same thing happened to me: suspend crashed for no apparent reason and
then had no network, just the grayed out message "Network management
disabled". Following https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager/+bug/524454/comments/35 solved the problem, but as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/555571/comments/16 mentions, this
seems to be a well known and somewhat old bug.

Maybe contacting the kde gui authors for the possibility of adding a
small button to send the dbus command? Or erase the status file on
reboot would be sensible?
