Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash
When trying to install usplash from the command line I get this error message: ~$ sudo apt-get install usplash Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: usplash: Depends: initramfs-tools (>= 0.92bubuntu55) but it is not going to be installed Depends: upstart (>= 0.6.3-4) but it is not going to be installed Recommends: usplash-theme-ubuntu but it is not going to be installed or usplash-theme E: Broken packages although I have both initramfs-tools and upstart installed, so that error makes no sense. Also, when trying to install the package via synaptic, when clicking to install usplash it says it has to remove around 50-100 packages, some of which are essential (like cups, linux-image-..., etc). I also tried downloading the package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/usplash and when double clicking on it, I get the error message: Error: Breaks existing package 'plymouth' conflict: usplash ( ). Because of these different error messages across the different installation methods, I assume that the problem is the usplash package itself. ** Affects: usplash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usplash won't install on ubuntu 10.04 amd64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587429 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
