Testing ooo-build specifically isn't really needed as the version in Ubuntu is close enough. Testing the official Sun/Oracle release though is useful, which is what you did. Almost all bugs that happen in Ubuntu that do not happen in the Sun/Oracle release are ooo-build related, the few exceptions would be in the Debian/Ubuntu packaging which is usually pretty obvious due to the nature of that type of bug.
