It would make sense to just give the single line command to test the
proposed package.  I had never done this before.  The instructions were
long and confusing, and I eventually gave up, opting to just use 'sudo
gedit /usr/bin/get-iplayer', and modify the perl script directly (this
works by the way).

sudo aptitude install get-iplayer/lucid-proposed

Still leaves me with a get-iplayer that fails in the same way.  But
since this is my first time using '-proposed' packages, I suspect I have
made an error rather than someone else.

Sorry, but I cannot give a positive or negative test result!
