Public bug reported:

HP TX2525NR with Intel HDA audio.

I'm running 10.04 LTS.

Even when I upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04, my sound still worked. But it
suddenly went from working to whenever I would boot, I would notice my
sound icon on the upper panel alternating between a regular speaker with
sound waves and a hollow speaker with little dotted lines, and back
again. But the whole time, the sound would work.

Now, I just get no sound at all, and in the panel I get a hollow speaker
with dotted lines.

I haven't changed anything, all I've done was the regular ubuntu daily
automatic scheduled updates.

I didn't expect my sound to just stop working. What does the hollow
speaker with dotted lines mean (sound bug?)?

Why doesnt my sound work?

p.s. I checked and alsamixer won't run from my tty, and apt-get can't
find it in the repo's.
