Please update to the latest kernel, 2.6.32-22-generic. Once you do so, I
would also like you to try installing the package liux-alsa-driver-
modules-2.6.32-22-generic from teh Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA,
http://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive. Once installed, please
reboot, and test headphones again, and report back with the results.
