Public bug reported: Binary package hint: smartmontools
I am getting the following message/error in my messages and kern.log every 30 minutes. It is related to having my external USB drive plugged in and the computer trying to read the SMART data on the drive. sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Sense Key : Recovered Error [current] [descriptor] Descriptor sense data with sense descriptors (in hex): 72 01 00 1d 00 00 00 0e 09 0c 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 4f 00 c2 e0 50 sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Add. Sense: ATA pass through information available ******(Repeats 5 times)******* This does not appear to be causing any problems on my computer however it is making very large log files and makes it much more difficult to find out if there are any messages I should be looking at. It appears that this bug has a patch at the following link: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=578129 Can this patch be incorporated into the latest Ubuntu update?
