To me the easiest short term fix would be to revert to the Karmic
"behavior" which displayed only the drive designations. Since this
effects only updates/upgrades that shouldn't be too difficult since
those updates must (I assume) come from a Canonical server. One
exception might be upgrading using an Alternate CD but I've never used
that method to upgrade so I can't be sure.

That does not mean reverting to the Karmic "package" but only the
behavior of displaying only drive designations rather than drive and
partition designations. It's seldom wise to install grub 2 to a
partition anyway and, since that option is rarely wise, it should be
difficult (but not impossible) to accomplish.

So there are great suggestions for "long term" redesigning in the long
term, given the number of people selecting all designations displayed,
this really needs to be addressed in a short term manner to quell the
number of update/upgrade failures.

Regardless, nothing we say makes any difference if we can't get a dev to
look at this. I feel I've tried everything I can other than buying
airfare and dancing naked in the street in front of Canonical
headquarters ;^)

I subscribed Colin Watson to the thread and I posted this at Ayatana:

http://www.mail-archive.com/ayat...@lists.launchpad.net/msg02554.html

I even cc'ed SABDFL :^/

And most recently I posted this at Maverick testing:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1504847

I don't know what else to do and, while I recognize my overuse of
exclamation and question marks in a recent post as immature, I'm just
frustrated.

Certainly the easiest thing would be for me unsubscribe myself from this
bug report and let someone else worry about it but that's not in my
nature.

Due to poor visual acuity I've found IRC to be too difficult for me,
could someone else try to draw some devs to this through IRC?
