Tested on laptop HP Pavilion N5472 KDE 3.5.5 Followed the instructions on the dist-upgrade wiki page. The upgrade tool proceeds successfully until it gets to the 'cleaning up' step. Then it hangs with the error 'E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)' that others have reported previously.
