Hi MoLE. After our discussion on IRC & discussing this with the U1 devs, I can confirm that the "STANDOFF STATE" bug (bug #487257) has been fixed in the latest Karmic Beta PPA packages.
Please follow the instructions at https://answers.edge.launchpad.net /ubuntuone-client/+faq/836 to install the packages from the Beta PPA.
