Public bug reported: Binary package hint: util-linux
Floppy media recognition was broken in 9.10 This appeared to have been fixed in 10.04 (though I had to add this line to fstab:"/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0", and add a directory for the mount point) This worked for a while, but yesterday I had to read a floppy, and the system is again failing to recognize the media. Clicking on "Detect Media" in Nautilus spins the disk for a few seconds, but never lets me mount the disk. Disk Utility claims "No Media Detected". I was able to read the floppy on another Ubuntu system, that is a 32 bit system that has bugs in the display driver, so it is pretty much a clean install since the display driver bugs make it unusable. I updated that system to the latest code before attempting to read the floppy. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release: 10.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: mount 2.17.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: 4f08ac62e89ad166a1e0b05f95495253 CheckboxSystem: fd6c484c0b5d20a2f1cd036ef0f63975 Date: Sat Jun 12 11:48:20 2010 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: util-linux ** Affects: util-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- Floppy drive stopped recognising media again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593140 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
