Fixed this problem in Lucid 64bit on my DELL XPS 1210 adding options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m82 position_fix=2 probe_mask=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Got solution here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3764871&postcount=9
