This is getting off topic Michael, but fakeraid support is only useful for dual boot compatibility with Windows. It is not well supported, and does not properly handle fault tolerance on any distribution. If you are building a server or otherwise do not dual boot with Windows, you should be using conventional Linux mdadm software raid, which is well tested and supported.
