The end result is that we'll enable this in Maverick. I'll try and get a kernel uploaded today with this change. And as Tim notes in the mailnig list thread, "If it proves to be of sufficient use, then I'll likely sponsor an SRU for Lucid as well (after a suitable amount of testing)."
