Same issue here - USB sticks mount fine, CD-DRIVE won't mount on it's
own.  I have noticed that running KDE it works fine, only appears in the
base gnome.  This may have started after installing kubuntu on my
machine for testing some things, I'm unsure.

Also, in the disk utility I can mount the drive just fine after putting
a disc in.  Also, when pressing eject on the drive, the tray comes out
then immediately goes back in.
