Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Trying to upgrade from Ubuntu9.10 to 10.04

(1) error reported "Could not install the upgrades", & it said to report a bug
in update-manager,
and include files in /var/log/dist-upgrade

(2) In the stage, configuring grub-pc there was a choice which I was
able to make, and then another secreen of information about installing
grub, and seemingly asking me to select <Ok>. But highlighting Ok and
clicking, or hitting Enter, seemed to achieve nothing - nothing
happened. So I had to do a hardware reset.

(3) Then, perhaps not surprisingly, I couldn't boot into Ubuntu10.04.
So this bug report is written from a different installation of
Ubuntu9.10 (so any information that has been added automatically is no
doubt irrelevant).
