I experienced this problem on two quite different computers, an IBM Thinkpad R51 and an MSI Wind U130.
It occurs when you install Ubuntu from the alternate CD without having an Internet connection during the installation. I have not tested with the live CD. If you have an Internet connection during install, Pitivi starts fine and the problem in this bug is NOT present. However, if you do an install with no connection, the problem occurs, and if you later connect to the Internet and do an update and upgrade, it is NOT fixed. So something seems to be wrong with the packaging in the repositories which is fixed by apt during install, but which is NOT fixed during a normal update&upgrade. Hope this helps someone, I'm sorry I don't have time to investigate further. I *do* know, though, that this is a real problem - we have a situation where we need to be able to mass install from USB with no access to the Internet. For the time being, I've built in the "export" workaround mentioned in comment #6 in a shell scripts and have the menu command call that instead of calling Pitivi directly. It works, but it will be nicer once this is fixed. -- The program doesn't start - see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=556851 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
