Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't start working on it yet, because
your description didn't include enough information.  Please include the

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: firefox

Sir,
I started installation of Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha2 using DVD created from downloaded
iso image.

It is encouraging to have the facility of installing the character based
installation of various servers alongwith Ubuntu Desktop in the Software
selection menu after installation of core of the system.

However, the installation failed when I clicked Continue after selecting
all the options except Manual package selection.

While Select and Install software was going on it stopped after 14%
saying:-

Installation step failed
An installation step failed. You can try to run the failing item againfrom the
menu, or skip it and choose something else. The failing step is: Select and
install software

<Continue>

On pressing enter key [?] Ubuntu installer main menu
appeared with Select and install software highlighted in red.

The next option is Install the GRUB boot loader on a hard disk.

The installation was being done on a PC with Intel 865 motherboard
Pentium IV 2.4 G.Hz. 1GB RAM. Hard disk had three partitions: C and D
ntfs, and a 22GB ext4 partition, 2 GB swap area and another 1 GB free
space for windows (swap).

This problem was found earlier with the Server CD Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha 1.
The problem no longer exists with Ubuntu Server 10.10 Alpha 2 Server CD
now.

This needs to be looked into.

It is also recommended to have relevant software packages included in
the DVD for use at engineering level.
