I'm using Lucid, and I'm pleased to report that the bug is no longer reproducible.
(Unfortunately I uncovered another bug whilst testing - it doesn't seem to be possible to rename a file or folder over WebDAV. Whenever I try I get the message "The item could not be renamed. Sorry, could not rename "<NAME A>" to "<NAME B>": Conflict".
