Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thinkfan

E: thinkfan: subprocess installed post-installation script returned
error exit status 2. This will not allow me to re-install or remove this
app. It pops up every time I install any application or update although
it does not seem to cause any error with the new programs installed.
Went I installed the thinkpad app the laptop Acer 5315 went down in a
thermal overload shutdown. The thinkfan app daemon does not show up in
processes but the fan seems to work OK after I put it to sleep. I have
installed xsensor 0.70 tool to monitor cpu temps and it seems to be
working after the computer wakes up from a close lid event. On bootup it
doesn't work at all and the laptop overheats in not time.
